{NEW} Subway Art Responsibility Chart

I've had this vision in my head for several weeks and am so thrilled I finally found some time to finish designing it!  You may recognize the chart on the right, it's an updated/modification of the "Subway Art To Do Chart" I made for my kids last year (still available HERE).  We were in need of an upgrade, and with the craziness of chemo now as our new normal, I knew I needed to add more responsibility to the chart to help our days run smoother. We have alot of people coming and going to help with the kids, so giving the kids a tool to help manage themselves seemed like the best idea to keep our routine easy.  I also decided to add a coordinating Weekly Planner for the kids as well.  This gives them the opportunity to keep track of their activities and also serves as a visual countdown to things they are looking forward to during the week.  I absolutely LOVE this new system and it has help restore some normalcy to our world... PLUS, I love that it will work for both the school year AND Summer!  Earning a magnet on "Happy Homework" in the Summer is as simple as doing some workbook pages, playing on an educational app, writing a letter or just doing some extra reading.

With this new version, I emphasized chores and allowance/rewards more.  With the new "Daily Tracker" - they can mark each day with a magnet if they've "done well".  Now, doing well and earning a daily magnet doesn't necessarily mean they've done each thing.  We decide together at the end of the day if they've contributed to the family in a positive way and managed their time well.    And let's face it... if I can get my kids to do that with this chart, it's worth whatever reward I attach to it.  At our house, they earn an allowance on Saturdays for each "day" that has a magnet.  On Saturdays, they have the opportunity to either do their board to make up for a day they missed, or can take a break from the board if they choose.  I love how this bundle not only manages chores and being helpful, it also serves as a boredom buster and encourages them to find a variety of things to do to keep them busy and happy.  Of course, there is also the "Strike Zone" for poor behavior or whining.  So far, no one has gotten more than one.  It's a mystery what will happen if they get all three, so no one has dared to find out yet.

I guess you could call this our Family Command Center.  It's in the heart of our home - the kitchen, where MOST (if not all) of the action takes place.  I love how I've empowered the kids to keep track of everything!  They can track their behavior, their time, their chores AND their upcoming activities.  Best of all, if they don't do it, they don't get their allowance... so they are highly motivated.  My kids range in age from 12 to 6 - and it works equally well for all of them!

The full bundle is available in my shop.  It includes the chart, letter tiles for personalizing each board, coordinating chore/idea cards and the Weekly Planner.  I also included JPEG images of the each chore card and planner so you can customize them yourself digitally if you know how.   To get you started, I also included a full page of instructions on how to craft everything, then ideas on how to use it.  I have an option where I can personalize your kids' names on their Weekly Planners if you need me to.

So... you all know I love to give away freebies of my new stuff, right?!

Today, I'm giving away 200 Weekly Planners!
all gone...

If you want the full bundle (chart, cards & planner), you'll need to visit my shop (HERE).  Once the download limit is reached, the above link will expire and you'll have to visit my shop to get yours.  Sorry, folks.  That's how it works. :)

QUICK TIP:  For the 12x12 magnetic board, check your local home improvement store.  I've seen them at Lowe's - precut and ready.  Or, you can buy them online HERE.  If you already have a board and have been using my original version, you can do what I did.  Use the same board, just flip it over... then you can go back and forth to change things up.  For the magnets, I used a colorful collection of floral fillers I found at Michaels in the floral section and hot glued magnets to the flat side.  They work perfectly!

  1. I really like this version. I have the old version that I haven't put together yet, so I might just have to get the complete new version and see if that works. I love that it incorporates chores and fun stuff. :)

  6. Thank you! I'm always tweaking our chore/responsibility charts, and I like the idea of a weekly planner. My 13-yr-old especially complains that we don't tell him in advance what is happening when (we do--he just "didn't hear"). I like that this gives them some responsibility for their own activities during the week.
