My name is Colette... and I'm addicted to fonts.

Fonts are a VERY IMPORTANT part of any project - and in my opinion, using the right ones can take your project from drab to fab! I've been called the "Font Queen" by many friends and family... anytime I do something new they are always asking...

"Where did you get that font?"

Some people collect figurines or stamps... I obsessively collect fonts. I have hundreds of them and know each one by name and am always on the lookout for something new and unique. There a great selection of free font sources that any new or old font addict should know about!

The first is SCRAPVILLAGE. They have a huge, very diverse collection of free fonts that download very easily. Spend a little bit of time on their website and you'll end up with a nice collection of unique fonts of your own! I think you should be able to find most of the ones shown above on their site.

My second "GO-TO" font spot is Fonts For Peas... an awesome website where font creator and blogger, Amanda, takes handwriting samples and turns them into free fonts for font addicts like us! She has a huge selection, sure to fit the needs of any digital project you have going on. If you are looking for fancy, cursive, trendy, perfect print or whimsical - she's got it. And, if you happen to have cool or unique handwriting, you can submit a sample (instructions HERE) and she might choose yours for her next release!

Pea Fonts add a more personalized touch for journaling entries on scrapbook pages and definitely can give any project or blog design a fun creative edge.  Amanda also has another font collection HERE that any crafter, blogger or scrapper would love!  A couple of my other favorites you might want to browse are Sugar Frog Fonts & Two Peas Free Fonts.

NEED HELP INSTALLING NEW FONTS?
Everyone's computer is different... but here's how I do it on mine, I'm a PC:

"Click" on the font you want and a download box will pop up.  Click "Save" (I usually choose to save it directly to my desktop.  That way, it doesn't get lost in the abyss of my C: drive).  Then, to "install" it, open the file (unzip it first if you need to) then at the top of the sample page is an "install" button.  Click that and you are done!

I hope you'll visit my ETSY SHOP and see what fun things can be created using fonts!

I USE SCRAPBOOK MAX TO DESIGN ALL OF MY PRINTABLES.

I also collect fonts, last time my PC counted more than 800, so, you´re not alone :-) But I have my favourites, about 20 fonts I use over and over. Do you know dafont? They are a great (free) source for fonts, too.

I am also guilty of being a font addict. I can't tell you how many HOURS I have spent looking for cute fonts. You are so right, the font choice on a project can make or break it. It is exciting to see so many people buying vinyl cutting machines and I am glad you posted about how to look for and download fonts.

One thing I did was to go through my fonts a pick out favorites that I use a lot and catagorized them. I have "Script fonts, girly fonts, block fonts, bold fonts and 'super cute' fonts printed up and in a three ring binder for quick reference. That has saved me lots of time searching for something specific.

Oooooh, am I happy to meet you! I've subscribed to your blog and can't wait to check out all these font places.

I'm really old school. I started back in the '70's when we actually did paste-up. Then I did desktop pub on a Mac SE (tiny screen) in the '80's. In the early 90's I published a StepParenting Magazine - still with paste-up, half-tones, but was on PageMaker.

Now here I am blogging and trying to learn html. I'm an artist and need to learn vector art so I can turn my artwork into graphics. Any suggestions, if you know, are so appreciated!

Nice to meet you!

Colleen... I think your artistic talents are light years ahead of me! I don't even know what Vector Art is!! LOL! Good luck and thanks for stopping by! :)
